Shank snaffle effect
How does a shank snaffle work? The shank snaffle is similar to D-ring bit or Olivenkopfgebissen fixed side parts, which ensure that the bit remains in a stable position in the horse's mouth. The side piecesof the shank snafflerestrain the horse laterally even more clearly. In particular, it makes it easier to ride turns, as the lateral part of the bit is positioned at the corner of the mouth to provide additional support on the outside rein. In order for the thigh rein to work optimally, the side pieces should really lie against the corner of the mouth without pinching the lips. To do this, you usually choose the size one size smaller than for water snaffles with loose rings.
