The Curogan material is 100% nickel-free and therefore offers a good alternative for dogs that have previously reacted allergically to wearing conventional chains. Curogan has also proven to be an excellent alternative to stainless steel for many dogs with light-colored coats. However, bear in mind that even with Curogan, coat discoloration cannot be ruled out if you have a very light-coloured or white dog.

All three variants of stainless steel belong to the premium qualities and are characterized by their robustness, high breaking loads and durability. Stainless steel is the hardest material and is therefore also suitable for very large dogs.

The chains made of blackened stainless steel have a superficial color change, which is achieved by a galvanic process. Natural abrasion occurs during use of the chain, which would lead to discoloration on light-coloured fur. You will see this on your light-colored dog as a grey ring on the neck. For this reason, a blackened chain is definitely not suitable for light-colored dogs.

Stainless steel is a solid, rustproof material. Necklaces made of steel, on the other hand, are nickel-plated and then chrome-plated to provide double protection against rust.

The chain consists of a steel core, which is protected against rusting by a layer of chrome. If the chrome plating is damaged (this happens during use of the chain due to the abrasion of metal on metal), rust formation cannot be avoided on contact with moisture.

Depending on the intensity of use, the chrome layer can be damaged by the abrasion of metal on metal, making the steel core of the chain susceptible to rust.

Stainless steel is the most robust material with the highest breaking load and durability. It is extremely easy to clean and should only be checked for abrasion from time to time.

Yes, you can do this very easily with lukewarm water and possibly a little washing-up liquid, then always dry carefully!

All chains made of stainless steel are recommended for use near the coast or in permanently damp conditions.

Curogan is nickel-free and hypoallergenic and can be a good alternative for light-colored dogs. However, organismic changes in dogs can also result in coat discoloration for no apparent reason. Even the most diverse examinations at veterinary universities have not been able to provide any conclusive results. So if your dog is proven to be allergic to nickel, you can use a Curogan chain as an alternative to any other metal. If your dog has a light to white coat, it is still possible that his coat may be discolored by Curogan.

The properties of brass are similar to the further development of "Curogan" and was therefore replaced by Curogan. Brass is gold-colored, whereas Curogan has a more red-golden hue.

Chains without a pull stop can be leashed in two different ways. Use under tension (without a stop) is reserved exclusively for experienced dog owners.

Chains with a pull-stop or pull-through chain and/or hook for adjustment are also suitable for beginners in dog ownership and for dogs that are very anxious and at risk of slipping out of the collar. When pulled, the chain tightens so that it fits snugly around the neck but never chokes (make sure you choose the correct size for your dog).

The Sprenger ClicLock is a patented stainless steel buckle that is secured against dirt with an additional slider (jacket). By opening the ClickLock, the chain does not have to be slipped over the dog's head.

Incidentally, the ClicLock is manufactured directly by us in Iserlohn/Germany.

If the jacket is lost, this does not affect the functionality of the ClicLock!

The name long link means that the chain consists of extra long, oval links. This shape is particularly gentle on the coat and therefore particularly suitable for long-haired dogs.

The individual links of the medium chain are smaller, narrower and rounder than those of the long link chain, but wider and gentler on the coat than a curb chain. This type of chain is also available in different wire thicknesses and materials. It is suitable for short, medium-length and long fur.

The NeckTech is a stylish chain made of flat stamped material (stainless steel or Curogan, depending on your choice). It is particularly robust and the size can be adapted to the respective dog by removing or adding individual links.

Depending on the material, the fur of light-colored dogs may become discolored. We therefore recommend that you use the Curogan material for a light-colored dog or a dog with light/white fur on the neck. However, no guarantee against coat discoloration can be given for light to white coats.

A Curogan chain is recommended for dogs with a nickel allergy. Curogan is a copper-tin alloy and is 100% nickel-free.

To avoid hair breakage, we recommend a long-link or medium chain for a dog with a long and/or fine coat.

Any type of chain can be chosen for dogs with short coats. Short-link chains or medium chains have proven to be suitable.

The choice of chain size depends entirely on the size and weight of your dog. You can easily find the right chain for your dog using our chain finder.

For a very large and strong dog, we recommend a chain thickness of 4-5 mm.

We only recommend a double-row chain for short-haired dogs such as Boxers or Dobermans. With longer or fine fur on the neck collar, an armored double-row chain can lead to fur breakage.

For your visit to the beach, we recommend a stainless steel necklace.

All Sprenger chains made of stainless steel/black/matt are marked with a small plate with a red dot. All other Sprenger chains are marked with an HS-Germany, HS GERMANY INOX or HS GERMANY CUROGAN stamp on the rings, swivels or other surfaces.

Place the measuring tape where the collar should sit later. Position it so that it lies against the coat and can be moved easily. There should still be a finger's width of space. If you don't have a tape measure to hand, you can also simply use a piece of string and then measure it with a folding rule.

To determine the right harness size, measure your dog's neck and chest circumference. You can then find the right size in the following measurement table.

A necklace without a pull-through chain is pulled over the dog's head. To determine the right size, you should therefore add 5 cm to your measured neck circumference.

For a necklace with a pull-through chain, you should choose 8 cm larger than the circumference of your dog's neck.

You can determine the size of your collar with Cliclock by opening it and laying it straight on a flat surface. Make sure that you do not measure the ClicLock twice.

Our NeckTech is available in two lengths. To get the right size for your dog, you can easily lengthen or shorten the necklace by adding or removing individual elements.

You can adjust the length of the NeckTech to suit your dog. To remove or add elements, you will need a suitable, soft surface and a screwdriver.

You can carefully pry open the elements with the screwdriver. Then add or remove the desired number of links until you have reached the desired length. Then place a cloth or similar over the NeckTech to protect it and press the previously levered element back together.

To determine the right glove size, measure your larger hand - this is usually your writing hand. Place a tape measure around your hand at the widest point below the knuckles, above the thumb, and close your hand into a fist. You can then find the right size in our measurement table.

To determine the right muzzle size, measure the distance from the tip of your dog's nose to behind the ears. You can then use our table to find the right size.

Which leash you should choose depends on many factors. The area of use and, above all, your personal preferences are important here.

Shorter leads are very suitable for walking around town, public transport or crossing roads etc.. The focus here is on safety and direct contact. Shorter leads are also particularly suitable for training with your dog and for obedience.

Adjustable leads are particularly suitable for daily walks. They can be adjusted depending on the situation, but are not suitable for traditional dog sports.

Longer leads are useful, for example, if it is not possible to take your dog off the lead but you want to give him more room to move around. They are also particularly suitable for training hunting instincts, tracking work or mantrailing.

The chain, especially chains with a pull-through chain, should be removed when running free and especially when playing with other dogs.
