What is Biothane?
Biothane is a leather-like polyester fabric, which is coated with TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) or PVC (polyvinyl chloride), giving it special material properties that make it perfect for a wide range of applications.
Original Biothane® has been manufactured by the company of the same name in Ohio, USA since 1977.
Why Biothane leashes?
Biothane has material properties that make it perfect for dog leads and collars:
Biothane is very tear-resistant, dirt-resistant and easy to clean - while evenantibacterial, mold-resistant and UV-resistant.
It is comparable to leather in terms of feel for dogs and humans, feels supple and flexible and sits well in the hand. Unlike leather, it is waterproof, does not absorb water and does not become stiff even in cold weather - perfect for all seasons!
Die Geschichte hinter Mailo & Friends by SPRENGER
Kennst Du eigentlich Mailo? Der schwarze Zwergpudel ist Dir sicher schon das ein oder andere Mal hier im Shop oder auf unseren Social Media Accounts begegnet.
Als Hund der Familie Sprenger ist er der Namensgeber für unsere neue Marke „mailo & friends“ by SPRENGER. Wie das Ganze gekommen ist, was die Idee hinter der Marke und den Produkten ist erzählen wir Dir:
Alles hat mir unseren 2 .0 mm Kettenhalsbändern begonnen. Als kleiner Hund war Mailo nämlich leider immer zu zierlich, um die selbst produzierten Kettenhalsbänder von SPRENGER zu tragen. Wir dachten uns, das geht gar nicht! Wer wäre schließlich ein besserer Markenbotschafter und Produkttester als der Familienhund der Sprengers? Außerdem sollte nicht nur Mailo durch eine Sonderanfertigung von SPRENGER Qualität profitieren, sondern wir wollten die Kettenhalsbänder mit all ihren Vorteilen für alle kleinen Hunde zugänglich machen – passend zu ihrem Körperbau, also filigran und leicht, aber dennoch haltbar, sicher und langlebig.
Wie uns das zu unserer neuen Marke mailo & friends und zu Leinen und Halsbändern aus Biothane® führt, wird auf den ersten Blick vielleicht nicht so klar, doch für uns war es das sehr schnell. Durch unsere neuen, kleinen 2.0 mm Kettenhalsbänder wurde SPRENGER auch für viele Leute abseits des Hundesports bekannt. Mailos große, schwere Hundekumpels jedoch hatten nun sichere Halsketten aus 4 mm oder 5 mm starkem Edelstahl, jedoch fehlten nach wie vor die passenden Leinen. So war uns unser Ziel schnell klar: SPRENGER Qualität für große und schwere Rassen, nicht nur beim Kettenhalsband, sondern auch bei der Leine durch die Verwendung von SPRENGER Beschlägen. Wir haben uns also auf die Suche gemacht: Welche Materialien gibt es, die mit unserer Qualität mithalten können? Mit wem können wir zusammenarbeiten?
Die Antwort: Biothane®!
Schnell waren wir intern überzeugt und haben uns an Designs und Prototypen gemacht, an der Kollektion und Verarbeitung gefeilt und sind nun stolz Dir unsere neuen mailo & friends by SPRENGER Biothane® Leinen und Halsbänder vorstellen zu können!

What is a short lead?
A short dog lead is a short dog lead with a length of 30 cm.It is available as a model with or without a loop. It is usually used for medium-sized to large dogs and is left permanently on the collar or harness during controlled free running, on walks or in training and dog sports (obedience) - either as the only lead or in addition to a longer lead.
TheAdvantage of a short lead is that the dog can be led very close to you or, depending on the situationthe dog can be quickly picked up short, for example, when strange dogs come towards you on a walk without having to awkwardly shorten a lead, put it on or reach into the dog's collar/harness.

To complete your Biothane look: Our new adjustable Biothane® collars are equipped with a pull-through chain made of high-quality stainless steel from SPRENGER.This gives you and your dog even more flexibility and security and allows you to put on and take off the collar without any fasteners. These collars are AdjustableBiothane collars with pull stop, as the pull-through chain limits the tightening of the collar and prevents the dog from choking.
