Professional sport meets bit experts
The Pronamic bits were developed in collaboration with the highly successful equestrian siblings Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Benjamin Werndl and our bit expert Heiko Schmidt-Sentek, who has been working for SPRENGER for many years and who some of you may have already met at bit fitting appointments or events with our specialist dealers. Our knowledge of materials and years of experience in bit production round off the creation of the Pronamic.
Benjamin Werndl on the Pronamic bits: “The development process of the Pronamic bits together with SPRENGER was a really exciting project and we are proud that our bit came out in the end. The Pronamic is very well suited to improving the contact of different types of horses, because the special shape makes them prefer to approach the hand.”
Pronamic bits are also made from SENSOGAN
The basis of the Pronamic bits is the tried and tested SENSOGAN. The copper alloy has proven to be an excellent bit material, as the natural oxidation properties of the copper it contains specifically stimulate the horse's salivation, causing it to chew.
The chewing movement in turn relaxes the jaw muscles and topline and focuses on the bit. SPRENGER SENSOGAN is also very well accepted by mouthy horses. The material has also been toxicologically tested and found to be harmless, making bits made from SENSOGAN suitable for use in the horse's mouth and there are also no concerns for horses with nickel allergies.
You can find out more about our bit material in the blog post 'Promotional SENSOGAN bits from SPRENGER'. You can also read about the differences between SENSOGAN and other materials here: 'SPRENGER explains SENSOGAN, stainless steel & Co. bit materials'.
Ergonomic & anatomically shaped bits
The available models are single jointed and therefore direct the pressure of the rein aid more towards the edges of the tongue, relieving the pressure on the middle of the tongue. The special rotation of the joint ensures that it moves forwards rather than towards the palate when more pressure is applied by the hand.
A nutcracker effect can thus be avoided. The loose rings of the snaffle gently cushion the rein aid. You can read more about the effect of the loose ring snaffle here: 'The loose ring snaffle - a gentle all-rounder for all levels of training'. A correctly buckled loose ring snaffle leaves between three and five millimetres of space on each side between the bit ring and the horse's mouth to prevent the corners of the mouth from pinching.
Like the Dynamic RS bits, the Pronamic models are also anatomically curved. However, the specially shaped bit shanks of the Pronamic reduce the pressure on the lower bars and therefore make it particularly suitable for sensitive horses or horses with very thin tongues. Thick tongues act like a cushion between the bit and the lower bars, which is why horses with thin tongues quickly find the pressure transferred to the bit by the rein aids uncomfortable and try to evade the aids.
This problem can be counteracted with the Pronamic. With fine aids, the rein aid reaches the mouth effectively. Even sensitive horses have reacted very well to the shape of the Pronamic bit in practical tests.
Port for more self-carriage
The port of the Pronamic bits is slightly flared forwards and helps our four-legged sport partners to approach the hand even better in a self-carriage. This makes the bits particularly suitable for horses that have completed solid basic training and are now at an advanced level of training.
Jessica has the following to say about the SPRENGER PRONAMIC: “With Dalera in particular, I noticed that she approached the hand even better and was even more confident in self-carriage. The Pronamic has already accompanied me to Tokyo and the result there was very good.”
Pronamic bits for show jumpers
The SPRENGER Pronamic bit is also ideal for the show jumping course. It is particularly effective for horses that pull very energetically toward the jump and tend to get stuck. The special shape of the bit shanks enables effective action without having to become strong. This can minimize overreactions or discomfort, such as head shaking, caused by excessive rein impact and thus promote harmony between horse and rider.
SPRENGER Pronamic loose ring snaffle and bradoon
The Pronamic bits are available as a standard loose ring snaffle or as a bradoon bit with smaller rings as a perfect combination with the weymouth bit. With its thickness of 14 mm, the Pronamic loose ring snaffle is ideally suited to the limited space in the horse's mouth and thus takes into account the anatomy of modern horse breeding. With 4 different bit widths (115, 125, 135, 145 mm), everyone will find what they are looking for. The braoon bit also has loose rings and is available in a thickness of 14 mm in sizes from 115 - 145 mm. Thanks to the wide range of bit widths, both ponies and large horses can benefit from this bit shape.
