Gentle all-rounder for every level of training

The term "water snaffle" has long been established in all stable lanes. It refers to a bit with continuous rings. Incidentally, this is a real all-rounder. When the reins are tightened, the pressure is transferred to the horse's lower jaw via the tongue. Water snaffles are basically suitable for every horse and every level of training, as the movable rings can also cushion a somewhat unsteady rider's hand to a certain extent. Regardless of whether you are a beginner or a professional, whether you want to break in your horse or master a course: the water snaffle is the "basic" par excellence.

All-rounder

Double jointed bits - just like their single jointed counterparts - are used in a wide variety of areas, disciplines and performance levels. In contrast to the single jointed bit, the pressure is distributed over a larger area of the tongue. Sensitive horses often show positive reactions to this wide distribution of pressure.

Half a centimeter

for the perfect fit

Let's start in order: If you want to check whether your horse's bit is big enough, you should take a look at the corners of the mouth while the reins are not tightened. If the bit has continuous rings, the following applies if it is buckled correctly: There should be no more than half a centimeter of space between the corner of the mouth and the bit ring on the right and left. Also make sure that the ring can always move freely and does not pinch the corner of the mouth.

Help in the confusion of sizes

To make it easier to find the right size for curb and snaffle bits, it helps to take a closer look at the anatomy of the horse's mouth: The curb bit lies below the snaffle bit in the horse's mouth. The mouth usually becomes narrower at this point. It therefore makes sense to choose a curb bit that is around half a centimeter to one centimeter smaller than the snaffle bit. In order to achieve the optimum effect, its side parts should be close to the corner of the mouth, but must never pinch it. When choosing a snaffle bit, you can use your everyday snaffle bit as a guide, provided your horse is happy with this bit. The underlay snaffle should be similar in shape and width to this standard snaffle.
