Description

KK ULTRA bits are the pioneers of modern bits because they have been developed on the basis of scientific research. They achieve their unique, precise effect through the special 45° angle of the middle link. When used correctly, the horse’s confidence in the rider’s hand is enhanced, which is why these bits are used successfully worldwide in all disciplines and across all training levels – a genuine all-round talent!
Compared to conventional bits, the middle link has also been shortened. This anatomical adaptation noticeably optimises the effect compared to conventional double jointed bits.
When the reins are taken up, the middle link – also known as the “lozenge” because of its striking shape – gently rolls over the central part of the horse’s tongue, stimulating its sense of touch.

The fixed side pieces of this bit allow direct transmission of the rein aid to the horse's tongue and lower jaw. In addition, they are gentle on the sensitive corners of the mouth and provide a slight lateral limitation, enabling a particularly calm position in the horse's mouth.

Material & care

How do I care for my Sensogan bits?

You should always wash your bits thoroughly with water and dry them after each use. SENSOGAN bits contain copper. Oxidation causes the bits to darken and may lose their shine. However, metal bits are particularly easy to clean and maintain with the help of our "Diamond Paste".

Sensogan

Alloy of copper, manganese and zinc. Manganese hardens the copper without affecting the natural oxidation process of the copper. Thanks to the manganese, the alloy has a lower copper content but achieves the same oxidation behavior as AURIGAN.

Lateral support and quiet position in the mouth

Olive head, D-ring and shank snaffles are the "framers" among the bits. The fixed rings literally frame the horse's mouth. This makes it even easier for you to ride turns, for example, as the boundary on the outside rein is supported. Similar to a water snaffle, these models only exert pressure in the horse's mouth when there is tension on the reins. The fixed side pieces are directly connected to the mouthpiece. Your rein aids are therefore transmitted more directly than with a water snaffle, where a small part of the aids are cushioned by the loose rings. Due to the soft transitions between the rings and mouthpiece, the bit lies particularly quietly in the horse's mouth. The ideal choice if your horse has very sensitive mouth angles.

Perfect framework conditions

but with which model?

Spoilt for choice: Which bit is the right choice? Olive head, D-ring or shank snaffle? Basically, the larger the contact surface between the side part and the corner of the horse's mouth, the greater the lateral limitation. So compare the side elements of the bits with each other and decide how strong you want the lateral limitation to be. If you want it to be rather mild, we recommend an olive head or D snaffle. If you want a clearly framing effect, you can go for a shank snaffle.

Double jointed bits - just like their single jointed counterparts - are used in a wide variety of areas, disciplines and performance levels. In contrast to the single jointed bit, the pressure is distributed over a larger area of the tongue. Sensitive horses often show positive reactions to this wide distribution of pressure.

One size smaller

Perfect fit

In order for bits with fixed side pieces such as olive head, D-ring and shank snaffles to develop their framing effect optimally, the side piece should lie close to the corner of the mouth. This also allows the bit to lie quietly in the horse's mouth. Due to their special fit, these bits should therefore always be selected one size smaller than classic water snaffles with continuous rings.
